Background Tone

Color-grade just a photo's background — keep the subject untouched, match tone across a whole feed.

What is Background Tone?

Background Tone adjusts the hue, saturation, and brightness of only the background in a photo, leaving the subject itself untouched.

It's built for a specific job: matching the background tone across a batch of photos so a carousel post or an entire feed reads as visually consistent, without applying one blanket filter that also changes how the subject looks in every shot.

How it works

  1. 1

    Import a photo

Any image with a clear main subject.

  2. 2

    Adjust background hue/saturation/brightness

Only the area behind the subject changes.

  3. 3

    Repeat across a set

Match the same tone target across multiple photos for a consistent feed.

  4. 4

    Export

    Save each adjusted photo.

Who it's for

Consistent feed aesthetic

Match background tone across a carousel or a whole feed without touching how people look in each shot.

FAQ

Does this change how the subject looks?
No — only the background's hue/saturation/brightness changes; the subject is left untouched. Use Subject Tone if you want to grade the subject instead.
