Slow motion, time-lapse, or a full CapCut-style speed ramp — from 1/30× to 30×.

What is Speed?

Speed changes how fast a clip plays back — anywhere from 1/30× (extreme slow motion) to 30× (extreme time-lapse) — without needing to have shot it that way originally.

Beyond a flat multiplier, Speed also has a Curve mode: instead of one constant rate for the whole clip, you shape how the speed changes moment-to-moment within it, using the same kind of velocity curve CapCut's 'Curves' palette popularized. 9 built-in presets cover the most common shapes — Linear, Slow → Fast, Fast → Slow, Hero (slow-fast-slow, for punching up one moment in the middle), Bullet (fast-slow-fast, a 'bullet time' dip in the middle), Jump Cut (a jarring snap to very slow and back), Mountain (a rise-fall-rise wave), Flash In (a very fast intro that settles), and Flash Out (settled, then a very fast exit).

How it works

    Import your clip

    Any footage works, though high-frame-rate source video slows down more smoothly.

    Pick Constant or Curve mode

    Constant applies one speed to the whole clip. Curve shapes how the speed changes within the clip — e.g. slow at the start, fast by the end — using a preset or your own keyframes.

    Set the speed

    Constant mode: drag to a speed between 1/30× and 30×. Curve mode: tap one of the 9 presets, or place your own keyframes on the curve.

    Preview playback

    The preview updates live as you drag the slider or reshape the curve — no separate render needed to check it.

    Export

    Render the retimed clip into your project.

FAQ

Can I speed up part of a clip, then slow down another part, in the same clip?
Yes — that's exactly what Curve mode is for. Pick the Fast → Slow or Hero preset (or place your own keyframes) and the speed ramps smoothly within one clip, instead of cutting it into separate pieces at different constant speeds.
What's the real speed range?
1/30× (30 times slower) to 30× (30 times faster) in Constant mode; Curve mode's 9 presets shape the rate within that same range.
Does slowing down video affect audio pitch?
Yes, audio pitch shifts with speed changes unless you mute the clip first (see the Mute tool) — or use the separate Pitch & Speed audio tool afterward to correct the pitch back without losing the music.
